Wireless Setup Wizard
The Wireless Setup Wizard connects your printer to your home or office Wi-Fi. It’s only available on select the printer models that come with a touchscreen control panel. Connecting your printer to the internet is the precursor to downloading and installing the software driver and setup.
If you’re tired of the password hassle, you can also use the WPS method to connect to the internet (Wi-Fi Protected Setup). Like the Wireless Setup Wizard, the WPS method is also available in only select the printers.
Before beginning with the process, make sure that you have these following items
- Wireless printer
- Network Name (SSID)
- Network Password (WEP or WPA passphrase)
- System with wireless capabilities.
- Turn on your computer, router and printer. Connect your computer to the same network as you want to connect your printer.
- Disconnect all the USB and Ethernet cables. Go to the printer’s control panel and choose setup, network or wireless menu.
- Follow the on-screen instructions of the Wireless Setup Wizard to complete the network connection of your printer.
Take care while entering the password for your Wireless Network as passwords are case-sensitive. Once your printer is connected to the internet, the Wireless light stops blinking and becomes steady.
Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS)
The Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) connects your printer to the internet without a password. This method is recommended only if your router is encrypted with WPA. If it’s encrypted with WEP or any other method, you’ll be better off connecting your printer using the Wireless Setup Wizard.
You can use either the Push button method or the Pin method to connect your printer. The Push button method is relatively easier and preferred over the PIN method. Follow the steps given below to use the WPS method to connect your printer to the internet.
Push Button Method:
- Some printers ask you to choose between WPS and Wireless Setup Wizard. Choose WPS and Push Button method in that case.
- Press and hold the WPS button your router for about three seconds and wait for the printer to connect to the network.
If your printer is connected to the internet successfully, the Wireless light on your printer will stop blinking and become steady.
PIN Method:
- Select PIN method from the WPS menu when asked to choose between push button method and PIN method.
- The PIN that you have to enter will be displayed on the control panel of your printer.
- Open your router’s utility page and enter the WPS pin.
Once the printer is successfully connected to the internet, the Wireless light stops blinking.

Printer Driver Installation

- Switch on your printer and computer.
